Video Charades with Flipgrid

My Spanish 1 students are very energetic this year which makes them the perfect students for physical activities like charades. They also sometime focus to stay on task which can make activities like charades chaotic and unproductive. Here is my work around.

I gave each student a verb (bailar, cantar, hablar, etc).

Next they went to a Flipgrid with a video time limit of 15 seconds & recorded a video of them acting out the verb. The video didn’t need to last 15 seconds, just long enough to act out the verb.

I printed out QR codes of the videos, cut the names off, and numbered them.

Next class, I’ll hang the codes around the room & students will walk around with their devices, scan the codes to watch the videos, and write down their guesses for which verb is being acted out.

Benefits

-I can use the videos again later on this chapter.
-All students are engaged in guessing, and up and moving instead of waiting for their team’s turn, shouting off task answers, getting distracted or off task.
