A Saber vs Conocer Story with Past & Present Tenses

Saber vs conocer is one of my favorite concepts to each. In the past I’ve used Señor Wooly’s Amnesia and my narwhal saber vs conocer story. I wrote this saber vs conocer story that features past tenses along with the present tense for my intermediate students.

The Synopsis

The story focuses on Tomás, a guy who just isn’t have a great start to his first day of school. He shows up late and has a less-than-friendly exchange with a woman at the front desk of his school. He finally makes it to his first period classroom only to discover chaos and an out of control class. A classmate informs him previous science teachers have been terrible so this new one (who is currently missing) will be too. The twist? Turns out Tomás IS that new teacher.

I Created Four Versions

Yep, I made four versions of this 313 word saber vs conocer story. I’ve found that my classes usually have different personalities & skill levels. Having options is always a good thing.

Version 1: Full-text, read the story and highlight the uses of saber vs conocer to decipher the differences in their uses.
Version 2: Circle saber vs conocer, students see both verbs conjugated and choose the correct one based on the context.
